Now is your time to thrive.

Heal from your trauma and be the parent you’ve always wanted to be.

Traumatic experiences can cause us to feel detached from others. And whether you’re a first-time parent or have several kiddos, these previous traumatic experiences can creep in at any time and consume our thoughts, causing us to feel isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure of our own abilities to parent. You might be struggling to feel bonded or attached to your child because:

  • their birth was traumatic for you (and them too!)

  • you weren’t given the option or opportunity for skin-to-skin care after their birth

  • you are reminded of your own traumas experienced in the first few years of your life—physical, emotional, sexual, neglect, or rejection from your birth parent

  • you previously experienced a loss or termination and fear experiencing that trauma and grief again

  • you are feeling like you’re failing as a parent or are struggling to attune to your baby’s needs

Hi, I’m Dr. McCormick!

I help parents heal their reproductive, developmental, and relational traumas so they can form secure attachment with their infants and toddlers.

I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help folks heal from these traumatic experiences.

Attachment-focused EMDR therapy is an innovative approach that integrates the principles of attachment theory with EMDR techniques. This powerful therapeutic modality aims to address unresolved attachment issues and trauma by facilitating healing through bilateral stimulation.

At its core, attachment-focused EMDR recognizes the fundamental importance of secure attachments in shaping our emotional well-being. It acknowledges that early relational experiences can profoundly influence our sense of self, our relationships, and our ability to cope with stress and adversity later in life.

During attachment-focused EMDR sessions, therapists work collaboratively with clients to identify and explore attachment-related traumas and negative beliefs that may be hindering their emotional growth and relational satisfaction. Through targeted EMDR protocols and interventions, clients are guided to reprocess distressing memories, emotions, and beliefs while the therapist simultaneously fostering a sense of safety, security, and connection.

By addressing attachment-related wounds and enhancing relational capacities, attachment-focused EMDR therapy empowers individuals to cultivate healthier, more fulfilling connections with themselves and others. It offers a pathway towards greater resilience, self-understanding, and emotional freedom, laying the foundation for transformative healing and growth.
